Tommy Robinson is in custody before his court appearance, igniting fury among supporters. This volatile situation has mobilized nearly 10,000 demonstrators

Tommy Robinson detained pending hearing

Far-right activist Tommy Robinson has been arrested before a large rally by his followers in London this weekend.

The authorities of Kent Police informed that a 41-year-old male was apprehended based on orders from the High Court. He is set to attend Woolwich Crown Court on Monday regarding accusations of contempt of court.

Tommy Robinson has been charged under his real name of Stephen Yaxley-Lennon for allegedly failing to give police officers his phone’s PIN during a border stop in Folkestone in July.

He was given bail for that accusation and is scheduled to be in Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 13 November.

The purported crime under the Terrorism Act does not imply that he was plotting an attack and only concerns the police’s authority to search phones at ports during inquiries.

Yaxley-Lennon Could Be Prisoned

Mr Yaxley-Lennon could be sentenced to prison during Monday’s court hearing for contempt of court.

He is accused of violating a court order by spreading false information about a Syrian refugee that was already determined to be harmful by a judge.

Just after arriving at Folkestone police station on Friday afternoon, the verified Tommy Robinson X account confirmed his arrest.

Less than a day before a large policing effort to control potentially thousands of his followers, Mr Yaxley-Lennon was arrested.

For weeks, he had been consistently encouraging them to travel to London on Saturday, even while being overseas, arguing that the government was attempting to quiet him for discussing the influence of immigrants on the UK.

Metropolitan Police leaders have organized a major operation to control the protest and keep it apart from a counter-demonstration.

Officers from various police forces around the country are set to assist both the Met and British Transport Police. The Met stated that there will be a substantial number of police officers to make sure the two groups are separated.

The number of attendees is uncertain, but a previous event in London in July drew thousands of Robinson supporters in Trafalgar Square.

Critics have accused the activist of inciting tensions during the summer riots, who was the founder of the now-disbanded English Defence League.

Mr Yaxley-Lennon has not faced any charges in connection with the disturbances.\
