Taylor Swift Launches Christmas Merchandise
The holiday season indicates that Taylor Swift will release merchandise just over a month before Christmas. And, as if on cue, the “Christmas Must Be Something More” artist chose Nov. 13 — her favorite number is well-known to be 13 — for the Swiftmas merchandise release day.
Taylor Nation, Swift’s fan account, posted a one-hour countdown that morning along with the message, “Meet us under the mistletoe in one hour!” and a link to Swift’s shop. A 7-second montage showcased white gifts decorated with silver and red ribbons.
When the clock hit 0:00, the store launched with a video showcasing the new products, some of which symbolized the latest period of the troubled poet. Though the presentation lacked the flair of last year’s “Lover House” animation, which let fans explore different eras, this year’s straightforward navigation enabled fans to select the specific era they desired.
For “Tortured Poets,” there were hoodies ($75), crewneck and cropped sweatshirts ($65-$70), T-shirts ($40-$45), and a black faux leather purse ($75). Two fresh decorative items, a typewriter and a logo ($25), completed the selection. A limit of four items per order was imposed on the majority of products.
Taylor Swift’s snake-themed album “Reputation” featured new sweatshirts ($65-$75), an “Every time you’re loving me” oversized t-shirt ($40), a compact mirror ($30), and ornaments ($15-25). Enthusiastic fans shared tweets regarding the snake pattern woven into a mockneck cropped sweater.
After items were added to a cart, customers wishing to check out were placed in a line until they reached a designated area to input their credit card details.
Last year, the artist revamped her online shop with a range of festive decorations. For the devoted fans eager to purchase all 60 from the 10 eras (priced between $15 and $25 each), the total expense would have been $1,240. The site went down shortly as supporters battled for apparel and merchandise.
Swift is performing three shows this week and another three shows next week in Toronto. She will pack the Rogers Centre with tens of thousands of supporters for the second to last city on the two-year Eras Tour. The enormous, record-setting performance will conclude on December 8 in Vancouver, Canada.
