Lil Durk Arrested in Los Angeles Murder Case 2022
Grammy-winning rapper Lil Durk was taken into custody on Thursday in relation to a deadly attack near the Beverly Center shopping mall that occurred two years ago.
The artist, whose actual name is Durk Devontay Banks, was arrested close to Miami and is currently being kept in custody without bail, as per the report by the Los Angeles Times.
Prosecutor Claims
Prosecutors claim that Lil Durk directed the murder of rapper Quando Rondo, who has been in a violent feud with Lil Durk and his crew for many years.
However, instead of Rondo, Durk’s colleagues murdered Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, at a gas station close to the Beverly Center, according to prosecutors.
In a sworn statement, an FBI agent mentioned that Durk offered a reward for Rondo, also known as Tyquian Terrel Bowman, following a 2020 altercation which led to the fatal shooting of Durk’s friend and colleague King Von, born Dayvon Bennett.
Prosecutors claim that prior to the 2022 murder, Lil Durk provided a friend with a credit card to purchase a hotel room and masks for the five-man hit team, along with supplying weapons and vehicles.
Durk, who received his first Grammy for Best Melodic Rap Performance earlier this year, reportedly attempted to conceal his participation, as a message from his iCloud account instructed the individual arranging the flights to L.A. “don’t book no flights under no names involved wit me.”
The supposed group of attackers was taken into custody in Chicago on Thursday, with Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston named as co-defendants in the indictment.
FBI Statement
According to the FBI, Durk was arrested just hours before he attempted to depart the country.
“[Durk] had booked one-way flights to Dubai and Switzerland scheduled to leave that night,” According to reports; “He was also listed as a passenger on a private plane bound for Italy.”
