Frozen Waffles Recalled Due To Listeria Contamination
Illinois manufacturer Treehouse Foods is recalling many frozen waffles sold in major supermarkets due to worries about listeria contamination.
The company produces many different store brand frozen waffles sold at various retailers such as Walmart, Target, Harris Teeter, Publix, Food Lion, Tops, and others. The company also manufactures frozen waffles for brands such as Kodiak Cakes, Simple Truth, and Foodhold.

Recalled Products
TreeHouse Foods announced on Friday that it is issuing a voluntary recall of certain frozen waffle products due to possible listeria contamination found during routine testing at one of its manufacturing plants. The company stated that there have not been any verified cases of illness associated with the frozen waffle products.
The recall pertains to items that were sold in both the United States and Canada. The recall is known to both the Food and Drug Administration and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
Listeria has been a significant issue in the United States this year. According to a report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Sept. 25, 10 individuals have died in 19 states due to a number of outbreaks, mainly linked to deli meat. The recall also includes over 11 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products.
Symptoms of Listeria
Listeria infections usually result in symptoms similar to the flu, such as fever, headache, and tiredness. Older adults, individuals with compromised immune systems, newborns, and pregnant individuals are at higher risk for severe and potentially fatal bacterial infections.
Eating food tainted with listeria is the most frequent method of getting infected. Symptoms may present themselves on the same day or up to 10 weeks later, as stated by the CDC. Depending on how serious the infection is, some individuals may heal without any intervention, while others might require antibiotics.
