Erivo Shows Disappointment At Fan-made Wicked Post

Cynthia Erivo, star of Wicked, has criticized a fan-made movie poster for the upcoming Universal Pictures musical as “extremely upsetting.”
The modified Universal poster conceals Erivo’s eyes and most of her face to mimic the original animated Broadway poster, where her character’s eyes were covered by a large hat.
Cynthia Said: ” This is Just Hurtful”
Eviro, who portrays Elphaba in Wicked, expressed on her Instagram Story and X pages that the original poster is an illustration, while she is a real human choosing to make eye contact with the viewer to convey a message through their eyes.
The actress, who has won a Grammy and been nominated for an Oscar, plays Elphaba in the upcoming movie musical, while her co-star, Ariana Grande, a Grammy winner and SAG Award nominee, portrays Glinda.
Erivo Regards on the Poster
“Our poster is an homage not an imitation, to edit my face and hide my eyes is to erase me. And that is just deeply hurtful,” Erivo stated on her social media account. She made it clear that she was seriously upset by the fake movie poster.
“This is the wildest, most offensive thing I have seen, equality to that awful Ai of us fighting, equal to people post the question ‘is your ***** green’ None of this is funny. None of it is cute. It degrades me. It degrades us,” Erivo argued.

Wicked Releasing Soon
She and Grande will be the main stars of Jon M. Chu’s film adaptation of the award-winning musical Wicked, which will be released in theaters on November 22nd. Universal Pictures referred The Hollywood Reporter to Erivo’s Instagram Story post in response to a request for comment.
