Colin Farrell Raises Charity Funds by Completing Marathon
Actor Colin Farrell and his close friend Emma Fogarty have managed to collect more than €700,000 for Debra charity as Farrell guided Fogarty to the end of the Dublin Marathon today.
Fogarty, Ireland’s oldest person living with epidermolysis bullosa (EB), and Farrell started their campaign to raise money for individuals with the skin condition with a target of €400,000. Presently, their goal is to gather €1 million for the 300 individuals in Ireland who have the condition.
Last week, the duo showed up on the Late Late Show to promote their ‘Run to 40’ campaign.
This year, Fogarty marked her 40th birthday as a ‘miracle’ despite having the most severe form of the genetic skin condition.
Butterfly Skin
Born without skin on her left foot and right arm, EB causes severe blisters when even lightly touched, earning it the nickname ‘Butterfly Skin’.
Emma has recessive dystrophic EB, which is the most severe type of the rare genetic disease, and her current lifespan is estimated to be 30-35 years.
The money collected from the Run to 40 campaign will support groundbreaking research that has the potential to change the lives of individuals with EB in Ireland.
Colin Farrell had previously mentioned his training regimen in preparation for the marathon. Fogarty accompanied Colin Farrell in her wheelchair for the last 4km.

Time Taken By Dundrum
During the marathon, Dundrum athlete Hiko Tonosa secured third position and established a fresh national record.
The athlete, aged 29, from Dundrum South Dublin Athletics Club, completed the race in 2 hours, 9 minutes, and 41 seconds.
