Rachel Zegler angrily rants against Donald Trump using offensive language, 2024

Rachel Zegler disappointed on Trump’s win

Actress Rachel Zegler shared her unedited opinions on President-elect Donald Trump, using Instagram to critique the Republican after he won the election.

Rachel Zegler, known for her role in Spielberg’s West Side Story, is now appearing in Romeo + Juliet on Broadway and has often faced backlash on social media for her views.

A user on X, previously known as Twitter, shared screenshots of Rachel Zegler’s remarks about Trump that she had posted in her Instagram stories. A story is meant to disappear within 24 hours, making the posts no longer visible on Zegler’s account.

Based on the screenshots, Zegler created the posts between acts of her show following Trump’s victory, stating, “May trump supporters and trump voters and trump himself never know peace.” Newsweek has reached out via email to a representative of Zegler for a statement.

“I find myself speechless in the midst of this. another four years of hatred, leaning us towards a world i do not want to live in,” Zegler wrote.

She continued: “I shouldn’t be this shocked. but i am. i am heartbroken for my friends who awoke [in] fear this morning. and i am here with you. to cry, to yell, to hug. to wax poetic on how the left continues to fail us in forging a new path forward. this loss should not have been. and it certainly should not have been by so many votes.”

In another post, Zegler expressed that there is a significant illness in the United States, given the number of people who supported a candidate posing a threat to our democracy.

She added: “It is terrifying the number of people who stand behind what this man preaches. it is a foolish subscription to a false sense of security, of masculinity, of intelligence, of patriotism, and of humanity. there is no help, no counsel, in any of them. i could go on. i won’t. i feel sad. you probably do, too. f*** this.”

Zegler also urged readers to discontinue using X, the social media platform that belongs to billionaire Elon Musk. Before the election, the tech billionaire supported Trump’s campaign, and after winning, Trump appointed Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy to head the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency.

“I don’t use that app for a reason. he helped get that man elected and you’re giving him business,” Zegler penned down. In a separate update, she mentioned she would be appearing on stage for the second part of Romeo + Juliet and required to “get off my soapbox before i get too heated.”
